An LGBTQIA+ Community Event Space
An LGBTQIA+ Community Event Space
Quatrefoil Library began in a closet, and much like many of its patrons, it’s burst out in a blaze of rainbows and glitter. It’s now a public space, open to all, and tons of queer literature has been saved from erasure, preserved by the volunteers who keep the library going.
The intentional destruction of literature is nothing new. Books have often been destroyed as a way to erase groups from history. Even today, queer literature is one of the most commonly targeted. Q Library is protecting these stories, allowing generations young and old to see themselves represented.
Not Just a Library
It’s what we’re known for, but we’re so much more. For decades, the library has stood as a gathering point for those in the queer community. It increasingly has become seen as a community event space for the LGBTQIA+ community in Minneapolis/St. Paul and beyond.
The library hosts meetings, book author readings, and countless clubs — including a Queer Dungeons and Dragons meet up! The community room is frequented by countless organizations, and we’re always finding new ways to broaden this engagement.
We’re not just a library. We’re a space where it’s safe to be unapologetically trans, bi, lesbian, gay, or any other identity on the spectrum.
