Book Talk : New Work New Times
Roy G. Guzmán (they/them/theirs) was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and grew up in Miami, Florida. Roy is a 2019 National Endowment for the Arts fellow. Their debut poetry collection, “Catrachos,” was published by Graywolf Press in May 2020.
Junauda Petrus-Nasah (she/her/hers) is a writer, pleasure activist, abolitionist, filmmaker and performance artist of Black-Caribbean descent, born on Dakota land in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her work centers around wildness, queerness, Black-diasporic-futurism, ancestral healing, sweetness, shimmer and liberation. Her first YA novel, “The Stars and The Blackness Between Them,” received a Coretta Scott King Honor Award. She lives in Minneapolis with her wife, child and family. She is currently working on her second novel about a young, queer Black girl studying circus and learning about ancestral liberation.
Ty Bo Yule (he/him/his) is a scruffy, middle-aged, retired queer bar owner living in Minneapolis. After getting his mother’s hopes up by getting a Master’s of Theological Studies from Harvard, he is currently an unemployed bartender who writes things. His memoir, “Chemically Enhanced Butch,” is the coming of age story of an old school butch dyke who always wanted to be a superhero, but transitions later in life and is happily gay-married. Chemicallyenhancedbutch.com is where you can find his blog or buy his book.
Queer Voices is presented by Quatrefoil and Hennepin County Libraries. It is curated by Lisa Marie Brimmer and Sherrie Fernandez-Williams.
