On Saturday, December 13, 2025, Monica K. Allen (she/her) will read poems from her self-published chapbook, Words for My Mother, two days before the five-year anniversary of losing her mom. Kathleen L. Sloan died from Covid-19 on December 15, 2020. Additionally, pandemic poetry and cancer poetry from Monica’s upcoming full-length poetry collections (in progress) will be shared.
After the reading, there will be a short break, and then Monica will facilitate a
Pandemic Grief Community Discussion. Participation is optional. Your presence for the entire event is requested even if not participating in the discussion, to listen and learn more from the people most impacted during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Event Location: Quatrefoil Library Community Room (1220 E. Lake St., Minneapolis)

-Masks will be available on-site for those who need one.

-Monica will speak slowly and loudly, and ask the poets to do the same.
