Quatrefoil Library gladly accepts donations of books, DVDs, periodicals, and other materials that help us build a diverse and valuable LGBTQ+ collection for our community. We are deeply grateful to those who think of us when considering how best to preserve and share their personal collections. Quatrefoil Library started with our founders’ personal collection, serving as the heart of the library as it grew.

The Donation Approval Request Form helps our Collection Management Committee evaluate and manage larger donations. If you’re considering donating more than six items, please complete this form. The details you provide will be reviewed to ensure the materials align with our Collection Development Policy (May 2024), and that we have the capacity to process them. We will reach out to you once the review is complete. To begin the donation process, please complete the form.

*Disclosure: Quatrefoil Library cannot assign or provide an appraisal of the monetary value of donated materials. For tax or personal purposes, donors are responsible for determining the value of their contributions. We recommend contacting your tax professional for guidance on charitable donation deductions.

Format

Physical books, DVDs, CDs, Audiobook CDs, Periodicals, Zines, Comics.
Please note: The library no longer accepts VHS tapes even if they match the above criteria.

Condition

Please consider the condition of the collection using the following qualifiers:

• New: Brand new and unused.
• Like New: Nearly new with no visible signs of wear, damage, or deterioration.
• Good: Gently used with minimal wear or damage, and no deterioration.
• Acceptable: Used with noticeable wear or some minor damage, but no deterioration.
• Poor: Heavily used with significant wear, damage, or any deterioration.

Please note: We kindly ask that donors refrain from submitting materials in poor condition, out of respect for the health of our collection.

Disposal Policy

If the CM team determines not to accession certain donated materials, they reserve the right to dispose of the materials accordingly. Deselected items may be offered for sale at Quatrefoil Library book sales, donated to other non-profit organizations whose values align with the library, or recycled.
