SUMMARY:Creative Writing Class for Older LGBT+ Adults with Brian Malloy
DESCRIPTION:Creative Writing Class for Older LGBT+ Adults \n  \nNot a kid anymore? Age 50 or better? Is it time to write? Then you’re invited! Yes\, YOU! \n  \nIn this class for absolute beginners and experienced writers wanting a refresher\, we’ll be inspired by the works of older writers\, engage in user-friendly lessons on the basics\, experiment with writing exercises\, and draft our own original works in poetry\, fiction\, and personal essay. \n  \nOur class will culminate in a celebratory public reading (you are not required to participate\, but we hope you will)\, and publication of a chapbook of our poetry\, fiction\, and personal essays (you are not required to submit a work for the chapbook\, but we hope you will). Our instructor is Minnesota Book Award winner Brian Malloy\, lecturer with the University of Minnesota Creative Writing Program\, and winner of the Loft Literary Center’s Excellence in Teaching Fellowship. \n  \nSound good? It gets even better – the class is free! You don’t have to be a Quatrefoil member to enroll\, but Quatrefoil membership is also free\, so why not? \n  \nJoin us – you KNOW you want to! \nSaturdays\, June 11 – July 30 \n11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. \nIn person at Quatrefoil Library (we’ll move to Zoom if public health recommendations require) \n1220 E Lake St\, Minneapolis\, MN 55407 \n(on MTC Bus Route 21) \n  \nTO ENROLL: Email malloywriter@gmail.com  – just put Quatrefoil in your subject line\, and provide your name\, contact information\, and age (this class is specifically for older adults). If the class is full\, we’ll put you on a waiting list in the order your email was received.
