SUMMARY:Our Lives\, Our Books: A Short History of LGBTQ Publishing
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a discussion with queer writer\, editor and publisher Catherine Lundoff on the history of LGBTQ+ publishing in the US\, using examples from Quatrefoil’s collection. The publishing process itself is often one that takes a back seat to the writing and the creative portion of making a book\, but it is important in and of itself. The ability to publish books ourselves with our communities in mind is critical for keeping queer voices available for the future. Event includes a discussion and live Q&A.  \nSign up for this event on our Eventbrite. Registration is free but required. \nCatherine Lundoff is an award-winning queer writer\, editor and publisher who lives in Minneapolis with her wife and the cats who own them. She is the author of over 100 published short stories and essays and her books include the Wolves of Wolf’s Point Series: Silver Moon and Blood Moon\, Unfinished Business: Tales of the Dark Fantastic\, Out of This World: Queer Speculative Fiction Stories and A Day at the Inn\, A Night at the Palace and Other Stories. She is also the editor of the anthologies Scourge of the Seas of Time (and Space) and Haunted Hearths and Sapphic Shades: Lesbian Ghost Stories and co-editor (with JoSelle Vanderhooft) of Hellebore and Rue: Tales of Queer Women and Magic. In addition\, she is also the publisher at Queen of Swords Press\, a genre fiction publisher specializing in fiction from out of this world. Queen of Swords Press publishes work by Jennie Goloboy\, Melissa Scott\, Amy Griswold\, A.J. Fitzwater\, Heather Rose Jones\, Alex Acks\, Dee Holloway\, Michael Merriam and others. She also teaches writing and publishing workshops at the Loft Literary Center\, Cat Rambo’s Rambo Academy\, Springboard for the Arts\, Clarion West Online and other venues. \nWebsites: www.catherinelundoff.net and www.queenofswordspress.com \n

SUMMARY:Twin Cities Lesbian Fiction Book Club
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Book Club that meets online via Zoom – please direct all questions and requests for the Zoom link to jchandlerauthor@gmail.com \nYou are welcome to attend even if you didn’t read the book\, or didn’t like it. We enjoy staying in touch with our friends! \nNovember – Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo—A story of love and duty set in San Francisco’s Chinatown during the Red Scare \nNovember Book \nWinner of the National Book Award\nA New York Times Bestseller \n“The queer romance we’ve been waiting for.”—Ms. Magazine \nSeventeen-year-old Lily Hu can’t remember exactly when the feeling took root—that desire to look\, to move closer\, to touch. Whenever it started growing\, it definitely bloomed the moment she and Kathleen Miller walked under the flashing neon sign of a lesbian bar called the Telegraph Club. Suddenly everything seemed possible. \nBut America in 1954 is not a safe place for two girls to fall in love\, especially not in Chinatown. Red-Scare paranoia threatens everyone\, including Chinese Americans like Lily. With deportation looming over her father—despite his hard-won citizenship—Lily and Kath risk everything to let their love see the light of day. \n  \n
